Occasion Dressing

Look I feel like we have a very open and honest relationship so I will be exactly that with you lot. I take pride in being a bit of an introvert, I look forward to Friday nights in with a bowl of well-earned pasta and a glass of Red. However when the once a month or so occurrence of heading to an occasion takes place, I do go all out with making sure I am feeling fan-fucking-tastic with what I wear. Sure it isn’t me going out on a whim hoping that the day before I will somehow bump into the 10 outta 10 outfit I have always needed in my life at the local shopping centre, it's a process! From weddings to birthdays or going to the gig of your dreams hoping to impress the lead singer, these steps should help you feel your dam fine self without any last minute getting ready meltdowns.

Consider all location factors Sadly this is one of the things we just cannot change when it comes to dressing. Depending where in the world you may live I am sure you will know the average temps and what is realistic attire. Don't wear a suit & turtleneck combo in summer / slip dress in winter type of formula.

Think to yourself what exactly do I want to achieve? Are you going for a colour block wonder head to toe, maybe a striped back subtle but sexy number or maybe a print you have been lusting over all season. If you have no dam idea then no need to fret just skip to the next step and the rest will be history ;)

Know your budget Now I am not one to influence anyone’s spending habits as I am the firmest believer of NEVER putting yourself out money wise in order to buy clothing items. But we all know how much we will be willing to spend in order with our income and if it’s feasible.

Now comes the fun part browsing!

I have a number of go-to websites where I head to that aligns with my spending. For example, if it’s a high end purchase Net-A-Porter or Matches will be the first sites I will have a scroll on, but if I am on the hunt for high street then Mango or Ye Old Faithful Topshop will be a go to. If you are struggling with what to wear still, head to inspiration sites such as Man Repeller, or Who What Wear! They are filled with outfit ideas and looks to last you occasions all year round.

Next will be knowing what else I want the outfit to entail, for example a few months back I went to my beaut friend’s wedding and made the choice to wear a dress I already owned by Ganni, and went on the hunt for accessories that would make it feel brand spankin’ new.

I opted for a velvet headband, pearl earrings, a velvet scrunch bag and matching strappy sandals. All which costed a total of $90.

Just a little side note, if I am not shifting on the budget I had in mind, I will ALWAYS show prices lowest to highest in the filters so I never have the heartbreak of finally finding something that is PERFECT but is an entire months rent....

Don’t be afraid to shop online at multiple destinations!

To achieve the above I hunted on ASOS, Urban Outfitters and Mango to find exactly what I wanted and didn’t settle for anything dam less. * clicks fingers *

Obviously I did really picture the whole triple musk pink look before I go onto the accessories, however that was purely down to the fact that I chose my dress that has been in my wardrobe for months and my recent decision to become more conscious with re-using garments instead of purchasing for one occasion.

To simplify the above process :

1 Know when and where the event is taking place 2 Picture yourself in what you want to wear! 3 Familiarize yourself with sites budget wise 4 Piece it all together and vola! If you are still on struggle street here are a few outfits and ideas I prepared earlier to get the ball rolling for you darling's.

Sites for looks up to $150

Topshop - Total $140

Mango - Total $150

ASOS - Total $134

Urban Outfitters - Total $117

Sites for pieces up to $450

Matches - Average $300

Musier Paris - Average $300

For Love & Lemons - Average $350 Per Garment

Reformation - Average Per Garment $300

Now I truly hope that this process works a charm for you lot. Enjoy and ciao for now!
