The past 6 months have flown by quicker than a bottle of Rose’ goes down on a summer afternoon, and here we are entering the cooler months without a clue what to dress in or maybe we our style needs a palette cleanser. I say we, as in me.
We are constantly surrounded by micro and macro clothing trends, and it can be overwhelming to decide if the purchase is really worth it. It’s an odd conversation I have with myself whilst deciding to fork out the big $$ in order to get my hands on new season designer gear, subconsciously knowing that in 3 months’ time it will be stocked in every high street store and on every influencer’s gram.
I usually go through a wardrobe cleanup at this stage of the year, trying to juggle my sustainability want of re using my garments, re-fueling the farshun side and then saging out the inner hoarder in me. The struggle. Which leads me to this article!
What to let go of this winter and what to welcome with open arms.
BYE : Leopard Print Hi Tie Dye : The ultimate addition to the dad dressing trend, my recent outfit I have been recycling weekly is a button up vacation style Tie Dye shirt, a vest underneath, wide leg white jeans and Velcro sandals. Seriously I get called Dad anytime I wear it. Choose to opt for the subtle look with a jacket or button up or max out with numerous numbers.
BYE Hairclips Hi Headbands: Blair waldorf approved. Think all textures and fabrics, from velvet to tortoise shell and pearls to satin. Pair with a turtleneck, leather jacket and a line skirt to add a twist.
BYE: Bardot Tops HI Tight fitting cardigans: Now I know the idea of knitwear being tight is odd, however nothing looks more chic than a tight cardi with a few unbuttoned buttons here and there! Pair with black high waisted a line jeans, slick back pony and a statement boot for your winter wonder look! Pearl buttons highly recommended but not compulsory ;)
BYE: Cargo trousers Hi Straight leg Jeans: I would define this garment as a wardrobe basic however we always need to click refresh now and again right? These are flattering on every dam body type and can be dressed up and down in a flash. I am clearly a huge fan as above and below I have advised to pair most of the garments with these bad boys . Colour choice is up to you, from the OG denim to a washed grey or a cream, the options are pretty endless. Just be sure to try before you buy or know the brand sizing your dealing with. As we all know denim can be a bitch to comprehend where we stand with one another.
BYE: Mesh
HI Silk and Satin Tops: OTT in every form! From pussybow to bell sleeve or a daring neckline. This has been my go to night outfit for a while now, pair with any denim of your choice a kitten heel and a velvet mini holder bag. Or go with chunky sneakers and an A line skirt for ultimate street style envy coming your way!
BYE: Shell Jewelry HI Beaded & Fruit Accessories: Think cherry necklaces, pineapple clutch bags and lemon beaded earrings; or anything from the children section at Target.
Bye: Reptile and PVC Boots Hi Strappy Sandals and Mules: Both are styles I am so glad are sticking around through the cooler months. I know that we instantly think of boots when it comes to this time of year but we don’t have to at all! Socks and tights exist let’s not forget. Both shoes are suitably a low heel but can be chunky or thin depending on your heel preference. I recently wore a super thin pair of strappy sandals for a wedding and we ended up falling out mid boogie, so keep that in mind. We are back on good terms though after a nice dinner date and zero blisters. Pair Both with a chunky ribbed dress or cord co-ord for the winter heroes!
There you have it, some trend forecasting that thanks to my upside down ways may be a little too forward.
( Big up British seasons being so far ahead )
So whatever your winter may have in store for you, now you can face it with a few new purchases that will stick around right in time for the Rose' on that summer afternoon.
Till next time!
