Wave Goodbye To Your Winter Wardrobe Woes

There’s no doubt that I have a massive soft spot for cold weather, it may be the fact that I am British or my infatuation with all that a winter wardrobe stands for.

In my eyes, being able to step out with only your head and hands on show oozes sex appeal as well as having the chance to properly show your personal style with endless pieces of clothing in one outfit.

Think detailed blouses underneath a slouchy jumper paired with a pop of colour suit and a lightweight duster, or embracing a clash of heavier fabrics like velvet, sequins, leather, suede and silk all in one look! Compared to the hotter months when there is only so many ways to switch shorts and top combinations till you grow to hate everything in your wardrobe; for real.

One huge sneaky shortcut I always take, is heading to European online stores and thanks to their opposite seasons they have all their winter stock on sale for us Aussies to grasp!

So if you are the opposite of myself and feel the winter blues, or struggle to keep warm whilst feeling like the 10 you are; have a read below for some style inspiration and tips for the cooler months ahead.

Just because the weather is bleak and dark doesn’t mean your outfit needs to be.

Colour will be your key to unlock all winter style resolution doors. Clash bold prints or opt for a all over block colour look. It doesn't have to apply to clothing either, simply grab your most loved summer bag with delicate simple jewelry to finish the boldest look.

You know that saying get a head get a hat?

I took that so literally I now have three hat racks. Listen to me though and purchase one for winter, nothing looks more chic than a coat and hat combo.

Accessories can make not break an outfit. Socks with heels, socks with sandals or socks on your hands.

Speaking of hand socks, gloves are not just for the streets of Russian snow storm, pair them with a tweed suit for proper equestrian vibes or a simple slip dress and trench coat for the ultimate city break look.

Let your hem down. Not literally but let it lengthen a tad. Silk printed skirts that fall just above the ankle with a dreamy turtleneck is my idea of heaven.

Or opt for the elegant style of a ruffled handmade blouse and the newest jeans to have a huge moment the A line wide leg in a pop of colour or print.

Ankle boots are not your only option when it comes to winter footwear. Mix things up with a western twist with a pair of cowboy boots Granddad shoes are back, loafers, one strap sandals and Grandma shoes are also equally on my wish-list for winter, kitten heeled clumpy pumps and square fronted court shoes. With translucent polka dot tights, sheer genius.

Layer Out Of The Ordinary.

As here in Oz layering to keep warm is not really a factor, but still is one of my all time favourite styling tricks. Lately I have been layering differently, with garments I would never picture together seem to fall into a odd out of place look. Take two fabrics that clash in your head but make the details count : wear a blouse tucked in but keep the cuffs on show paired with a jacket. Or wear a super relaxed hoodie underneath a brilliantly dressy trench coat, ah well even better wear a tracksuit with a OTT faux fur jacket! The possibilities are endless, expand those styling horizons darlings.

Whatever your style may be, a few simple tweaks to your normal winter dressing routine will make your wardrobe feel brand spankin’ new without the hefty price tag of a shopping spree or emotional labour of still feeling like you have nothing to wear whilst looking into your closet pilled high with garments...

Ta ta for now darlings!
