This afternoon I caught up with Dylan Negrine , a Gold Coast based artist who's pieces make your mind tick. It's the type of art that you instantly want your entire loft apartment to be decked out in. Seriously.
Scroll down to see what we covered.
MB: When did your love for art begin?
DN: Around two years ago it begun, when I realised there was no boundaries. You can do anything.
What drew you to it? (Apologies for the pun)
There is no rules.
Do you think your style has changed or progressed into subjects you never think you’d be into?
Yeah, at the moment i'm exploring gender equality. With portraying messages through my pieces without having to say a word.
How did you develop your intimate aesthetic? Do you refer to movies, books, places, or past eras for inspiration?
With combining experimentation, time and patience.
When you are lacking inspiration, do you have a way to snap back into it?
I think those times when your not feeling it, is the best way to channel work and produce your best.
If you could get on a plane right now where would you go and why?
Amsterdam. Enough said.
The words love manifesto have been present with a lot of your pieces, what does this represent or mean?
It is a future clothing brand, with more to come. It all started in Hungary when I was graffing on a wall and it just came out and has stuck with me since.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Making clothing, somewhere not in Australia? Who knows.
If you had to describe your work with one word what would it be?
Blasphemy.
Is there anything that people would be surprised to know about you?
I am part Egyptian.
Fuck that is such a cool fact. Alright lets do some quickfire q's!
Favourite era?
The punk era, late 1970's.
Last thing you googled?
Jumpsuits on Etsy!
Current playlist entail?
Lots and lots of Jazz. Chet Baker especially!
If your work was a film what would it be?
Honestly, any film with lots of nudity. Probably late 70's based and disregarding gender barriers.
Biggest pet hate?
NO REPLIES!
Dream city?
Melbourne
What makes you weak at the knees?
Good style always.

Brilliant, thank you for your time Dylan and coping this wonderful GC heat. Blehh!
