Dare Not To Bare

It was a Tuesday morning ( 8AM and around 29 degrees to be exact ) and whilst getting dressed for the day, it dawned on me that this may be the last week of stinking hot unbearable temperatures and overall stickiness 24/7 AKA, Summer!

I proceeded to put on my cut off short shorts and dabbled about the usual denim routine when you feel super skinny if you haven’t washed your jeans or shorts after a few wears, but before you know it you put em in the wash and your back to square one. Whilst participating in that, a few dance moves thanks to a neighbour blasting Bowie and a cuppa tea later; I came across it. My turtleneck.

Yes, my trusty white turtleneck is what inspired me to write this post and faintly got me excited to meet my Ksubi jeans again. As you have already gathered, I love winter. But if you are not a fan of the cooler months because of the wardrobe department, well my aim of this post is to make you warm up to it. Just a little. You know what is the most amazing thing about dressing in winter? Layering! Have a super cute cami midi dress you didn’t get your pay per wear out of in the summer? Throw a off the shoulder bodysuit on underneath. You have a total new look AND you keep yourself warm. Win win. T shirt’s are also a lifesaver if your trusty jumper has called it quits on you, throw on a button up long sleeved shirt and put a graphic t-shirt over the top for a instant smart to casual look. And when I mean smart to casual look I am referring to after work drinks… Priorities!

Anyway, lets get to the nitty gritty stuff like; Do I really need a new jacket for winter?

NOPE, if you buy right your jacket(s) will last you years and years! Here’s a checklist of jackets I believe everyone should own in their lifetimes and keep hold of, like forever and ever.

· Leather – it even rhymes with forever. It’s meant to be.

· Faux fur – guaranteed to make you feel fabulous AF everywhere you go. Or you can rock it at home with nothing on, still fabulous. Try it.

· Denim – Black, white, denim and basically any colour under the sun, buy it. Floral day dress, throw on a denim jacket. Quirky overalls, throw on a denim jacket. Seriously I couldn’t name a thing it wouldn’t go with. Ah maybe a black tie gown will be pushing it. But you get the point. Denim.

· Blazer – any material, colour, with or without shoulder pads, just get yourself a dam blazer.

So with your new best friend ( the jacket) by your side, you are ready to take on winter without breaking your bank, but still looking a million dollars.
